About

My primary goal as a writer and editor is to deeply connect the words on the page with the goals of the business. I might have gotten my start in copyediting, but my later experience in the Bay Area startup scene fostered my fascination with business and marketing strategy and how great content can help drive startups to greater heights.

As a lifelong reader and grammar nerd, I have always had a keen interest in the power of story and language. The way a well-crafted story can create change never fails to intrigue me.

My current company, Metronome, has signed a definitive agreement to join Stripe.

I will not be taking freelance clients for the foreseeable future, but if you’d like to touch base just to chat content strategy, please feel free reach out!

⚡️ If you’re in need of short-term, creative writing help, I’d love to chat. ⚡️

🏛️ I’m currently unavailable for long-term, large-scale projects. 🏛️

“Stephanie is persistent and diligent, and always delivers beyond her promises.”

My approach

When you’re interested in collaborating, we’ll jump on a call to get to know each other. You’ll provide details about the projects you need help with, and I’ll share preliminary thoughts on how we might work together.

Once we’re aligned, it’s go time! We’ll schedule a kickoff call to further outline project details, deadlines, and expectations. This also call gives us the chance to get any stakeholders in the room, if necessary.

Each project and client has different needs, so this approach is more of a directional guideline that gets adjusted to meet your project’s unique contours.

“Stephanie brought so much clarity to every problem we tackled together, and collaborating with her has been a positive experience. She has the magical ability to distill complex ideas into succinct and tactful words.”

A little more about me

  • My favorite meal is chips and fresh pico de gallo. Not a meal, you say? You just didn’t make enough.
  • I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
  • One of my favorite summer jobs was as a welder in a local custom light fixture shop.
  • While I no longer eat sugar, I still have strong opinions on the best Starburst flavor. (Red!)
  • My best half-marathon time came when I didn’t train. (Do not take this as advice! There is no good takeaway here.)

After over a decade of startup life in San Francisco, with an interlude in Ireland help launch Dropbox’s first international office in Dublin, I’m now based back in my home state of Montana. I travel back to the Bay Area several times a year for the food to catch up with clients and colleagues and would love to grab a coffee in person. Reach out to hang out!
